Notts County have drawn Hornchurch FC in the semi-final of the Buildbase FA Trophy after today’s draw on TalkSPORT 2 paired the Magpies at home against the lowest ranked team left in the competition.
The match will be played on Saturday 27th March at Meadow Lane as National League Notts face Isthmian League opposition who knocked Darlington out of the cup on Saturday.
Hornchurch have only played FA Trophy games this year after their season was held back in November due to coronavirus with wins since its closure against Wingate & Finchley, Tonbridge, Dulwich Hamlet, Kings Lynn, & Maidstone before they saw off the Quakers at the Quarter Final stage.
Notts had to come from behind to beat Oxford City at the weekend and did so in style with two goals from Eli Sam, one a terrific scorpion style kick that has alerted the likes of FIFA already with over a million views worldwide, another, the opener, wasn’t bad either whilst Jimmy Knowles may feel overlooked for his own fabulous contribution when out pacing the goalkeeper who dared come up for a late corner to run almost the length of the pitch and ensure Notts passage through to the last four.
Should County overcome a side two leagues below them, they could potentially face the winners of Hereford against Woking in the final at Wembley Stadium. The Bulls these days of the National League North will play at the Cardinals of Woking who play in the same league as Notts, also on the 27th March, with the winning clubs picking up £15,000 each as well as a lucrative place in the final.
