Wildcats Strengthening Squad

Nottingham Wildcats have started strengthening their roster for the 2021/22 season which starts at Leicester Riders on 3rd October and two familiar names have already put pen to paper ahead of the new campaign.

6ft Spaniard Isabel Bueriberi has re-joined from Nottingham Trent University after averaging 8.4 points and 7.7 rebounds for the WNBL Division One side last season, whilst locally born Brahe Ashton has cemented her status for a first team return having come through the clubs Wildcats program over the many years. Clifton born Ashton now twenty had been with the club since starting out with the ‘mini ballers’ aged just eight.

Like Bueriberi, Ashton spent last season (and the one before) at Nottingham Trent University averaging 7.3 points and 4.8 assists from her position as point guard and returns to the Wildcats after two campaigns at NTU.

Nottingham reached the WBBL playoff semi-finals last season before losing to eventual winners London Lions and this season will hope to go at least one better, especially as this year’s final will be played at the O2 Arena in London on May 15th 2022.

Two new teams will feature in this seasons WBBL with Sheffield Hatters returning to the division after withdrawing last season due to the COVID 19 pandemic whilst Gloucester City Queens join as a new franchise taking the league total to thirteen teams.
