Strangeways & Rosier Win Half Marathon

The 40th year of the Robin Hood Half Marathon took place yesterday in bright sunshine over Victoria Embankment with over 4,000 runners of all ages taking part in the famous Nottingham City Centre run.

Will Strangeway of Lincoln Wellington Athletics Club came home first in the men’s race, the 35-year-old ending his run in 1 hour 7 minutes and 41 seconds, almost four minutes ahead of his nearest rival, Ben Kruze who came second in just under 1 hour 12 minutes.

In the women’s race it was a local girl, Megan Rosier who came home first to win in 1 hour 25 mins and 49 seconds, she beat Beatrice Munro into second and said of her win “I’m feeling absolutely over the moon to have won”.

The adult half marathon included 3,867 participants and a mini-marathon for children under 17 also took place, 728 runners took part in a shorter course which was won by Oscar Wyszynski just inside ten minutes.

Finally special mention to those who raised significant amounts for charity through running the famous race, Notts County Foundation raised over £3,000 for charity whilst John Conneely raised over £700 for the Tomorrow Project with many more fantastic donations made through taking part.
