Notts Add Brunt On Loan
Notts County have bolstered their squad with the sharp looking loan signing of Zak Brunt from Sheffield United. The 20-year-old Chesterfield born midfielder is yet to play a league fixture for the Blades but has appeared and impressed in the Carabao Cup against Carlisle and Derby and has this season also appeared in the National League with Southend United where he played on loan whilst at Roots Hall.
Brunt had a promising youth career with Sheffield United, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Manchester United and Derby County before joining Matlock Town as a teenager and after showing promise at the Northern Premier League club he re-joined Sheffield United where it all started in 2018.
The player won’t be eligible for the Magpies FA Trophy fixtures having already participated in the competition with the Shrimpers but will be available for selection for the league match at Dover Athletic on Saturday.
On signing the youngster, Notts County Head Coach Ian Burchnall stated “Zak’s someone we’ve had our eye on for a while. He played against us for Southend a few weeks ago, which gave us a chance to take a look at him up close, and his performance only reaffirmed our thoughts that he’s a quality player with a bright future.
“He is very, very technical and can play the holding role, as a number-eight or off a centre forward, so adds depth in the midfield area which will be crucial given the Covid situation and the many important games we have coming up.”
