Newark FC are the first name in the hat for the Semi-Finals of the Nottinghamshire FA Senior Cup after beating a Notts County XI in the Quarter Finals at Basford United’s Greenwich Avenue last night.
Newark have been using the Nottingham city venue for their home games this season after being kicked off their own ground at Hawton Lane for large scale development and have tonight been holding an event at the RHP Social Club to discuss the future of the side, which currently plays in the United Counties League.
On Wednesday night it was two goals for Richmonne Sylla who sent Notts crashing out and a place guaranteed in the final four for the Oranges. In the UCL Premier Division North this season they have largely struggled and are fifteenth in the eighteen-team league, finding things tough without a permanent home whilst playing near 30 miles away which has severely impacted the number of local followers attending their matches.
Also struggling in that same division are Selston, a place below Newark in the league, the West Notts side host Nottingham Forest U23’s in the Quarter Finals of the Senior County Cup next Wednesday night with a big crowd expected at the Parish Hall Ground.
On the same night, next Wednesday 16th February, Ollerton Town take on Carlton Town with a place in the semi-finals also up for grabs whilst the remaining tie featuring Mansfield Town and Basford United is set to be decided.
In more non-league venue news, Carlton Town have expressed their interest in securing help for further ground improvements at their Bill Stokeld Stadium on Stoke Lane in Gedling.
The club have stated “former Skier Dave Hodgson is bidding to help find further funding” after helping finance important improvements already, the club are also asking people to vote for a £10,000 Buildbase Investment which can be done so HERE.
Every vote counts so please do your bit and help a local football club get much-needed income for improvements.
