Panthers Leads Washed Out At Storm

Manchester Storm 7-4 Nottingham Panthers (Elite League) 05.03.22

The Nottingham Panthers dropped three leads on Saturday night as they lost out to the Storm in Manchester.

Kevin Carr started in goal for the Panthers opposite Jason Bacashihua for the Storm.

Nottingham got off to the perfect start thanks to goals from Massimo Carozza (0.20) & Jeremy Welsh (0.46) inside the first two minutes of the game but couldn’t build on that throughout the rest of the period.

That led to Manchester growing in confidence & a late Dallas Erhardt (16.24) powerplay goal cut the Panthers’ lead in half going into the first intermission.

The Storm drew level on an early second powerplay through Scott Simmonds (23.03) before Ollie Betteridge (26.09) put Nottingham back in front, the GB international slamming home at the backdoor on a great cross-ice pass from Sean Richards.

Manchester’s third powerplay goal of the night came through Erhardt (31.57) and the teams were locked at three goals each going into the third period.

Nottingham forged ahead through Robbie Baillargeon (48.00), who tapped in a gorgeous Mathieu Tousignant saucer pass at the backdoor seconds after a Panthers’ powerplay expired, but it all went downhill from there.

Cam Critchlow (51.42) pulled the Storm level once again then another powerplay goal, this time by Jared VanWormer (52.32), gave Manchester their first lead of the night & they didn’t look back.

Finlay Ulrick (54.19) added an insurance marker for the hosts and VanWormer (59.11) hit the empty net to condemn the Panthers to a 7-4 defeat.

Tonight Nottingham will look to make that defeat right as they again face Manchester in Elite League action, this time back in home territory as they face off at 4pm at the Motorpoint Arena.
