Notts Shot Down In Hampshire

Aldershot Town 3-1 Notts County (National League) 30.04.22

Call it a bad day at the office for Notts County who were beaten by Aldershot on Saturday.

The Magpies were down early in the game at the EBB Stadium as Mikael Ndjoli netted from the homesides first effort of the match on just eight minutes.

On 24 minutes, Ruben Rodrigues was tripped inside the area for Cal Roberts to convert from the spot, but another penalty appeal soon after was waved away when Nemane went down, Aldershot punishing Ian Burchnall’s team with firing in their second shot of the game past Jaros, Tom Willard this time on hand to give the home side advantage at the break.

Notts dominated for large periods and tried to force themselves back in but it was Aldershot who could have extended their lead on 52 when Rawlinson’s underhit back pass was capitalised on by Willard who’s shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Rodrigues at the other end heading straight at Ross on 62 before substitute Kyle Wootton had a left footed strike deflected over. Kelly-Evans then headed over from an Arter delivery and Rodrigues fired over from Eli Sam’s cross.

As time ran out for Notts, the home side counter-attacked and Armstrong smashed home on 88 from the edge of the area, putting the game beyond doubt.

A second booking for Kelly-Evans in injury time led to his sending off, a game to forget as Notts look to wrap up the season with three games remaining, starting at home to Dover Athletic on Monday.
