EMWRFL Ready For Lift Off

Last season’s fourth place side in the Premier Division of the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football league, Andi Bell’s Mansfield Town, as well as Adam Dunleavy’s Notts County Women, are joined this coming season by the rebranded Basford United Ladies (formerly Rise Park), managed by Tim Wilmott, and the newly-promoted, (formerly) Division One North, champions, Neil Matthews’ Arnold Eagles Ladies.

Mansfield, who won the League Plate last time out (3-1 vs. Rotherham United Women), will, without question, be gunning for the title this around, as will that of Chesterfield and Lincoln United, last seasons’ second and third placed sides, among others.

As Division One South doesn’t contain any Notts sides, St Joseph’s Rockware of Worksop (fifth place in last seasons’ Division One North) are the only Nottinghamshire side that will be playing in Division One North, in what is a seven-team division, whilst five further, Notts clubs, help make up the Central.

Two new sides from the county will join that of Thomas Hodges’ Notts County Women Development, Daniel Corlett’s Nottingham Trent University Women and Jason Brooks’ Sherwood Women in Division One Central; all three having been in the North last time around, finishing sixth, third and seventh respectively.

Joining the EMWRFL, from Nottinghamshire, when the new season kicks off, is that of Mansfield Hosiery Mills Women, managed by Robert McLean, champions of the Notts Girls and Ladies League Seniors Division One, and one of the joint runners-up, Adam Brown’s West Bridgford Colts (WBC) Women, who finished seven points adrift of the champions.
