Tigers Hit Lincoln For Six

Worksop Town thumped Lincoln United 6-0 at Sandy Lane on Tuesday night to move ninth in the Northern Premier League East Division.

In front of a crowd of 347, the Tigers took the lead through Jay Rollins on twelve minutes before Aleksandrs Starcenko made it two with half an hour gone.

Josh Wilde netted a third, eight minutes after the break before Jack Broadhead got on the scoresheet on 64. Liam Hughes then made it five with nine minutes remaining before Rollins got his second of the night, in injury time, to inflict misery on the second bottom team from across the A57.

Worksop have seven points from four games played with matches in hand on those above them having also played two matches thus far in the FA Cup.

On Saturday, Craig Parry’s team take on Brighouse Town in the FA Trophy first qualifying round before traveling to Long Eaton United next Tuesday as they return once again to league action.

Also in midweek action on Tuesday night were Ollerton Town who beat Glasshoughton Welfare in the Northern Counties East League Cup First Round.

Ollerton took the lead after 36 minutes through Alfie Dobson before their hosts levelled on 69, but five minutes from time a Lewis Bingham strike sent the away side through to round two.

There was also knock-out action in the United Counties League last night as Sherwood Colliery beat Hucknall Town 3-0 in the UCL Cup First Round. Jobe Shaw netting early doors before William Norcross doubled two minutes before half time. A late second half strike by Luis Rose ensuring Sherwood had no trouble going through.

Also through to the second round were Kimberley Miners Welfare who beat Blidworth Welfare 3-1.

Goals from James Shaw and Tom Jones had the hosts two up at the break, but Tom Batterham reduced the deficit on 52. Late on however Nathan Banton came off the bench to seal a valuable third and send Kimberley into the hat.

Kimberley & Sherwood will be joined by Newark & Sherwood who beat Clipstone 1-0 thanks to an Ainsley Finney strike. Both Selston and Radford are in action tonight as they both face Derbyshire opposition.

Selston host Belper United in the UCL Premier Division North whilst Radford travel to Heanor Town in the Sports Development UCL Cup first round.
