Tigers Stretch Unbeaten Run
Worksop Town won their eighth straight game in all competitions on Tuesday night after beating Long Eaton United 1-0 thanks to a Jake Hanson first half goal.
The Tigers are unbeaten in nine since losing their opening game of the season at Stockton Town and have conceded just once in their last seven matches. Currently sitting sixth in the Northern Premier League East Division table with games in hand, the club are in FA Cup third qualifying round action on Saturday as they travel to Gainsborough Trinity and a week later will head to Loughborough Dynamo for the same stage of the FA Trophy.
Also in cup action this and next week are Basford United, these days of the Southern Central League.
The Ambers beat Stourbridge on Tuesday night 2-1 with goals from Notts County loanee Luther Munakandafar and former Magpie Declan Dunn. Sitting seventh in the table they now host Boston United in the FA Cup on Saturday before another home game against Harborough Town in the FA Trophy a week later.
There was mid-week action in the United Counties Premier Division North as Newark & Sherwood United won the ‘district derby’ over Sherwood Colliery at Collingham on Tuesday night.
Two goals from Luke White and one from Kieran Cummings giving the home side a three-goal advantage before James Matthews pulled back a stoppage time consolation. N&S now fourth in the table with nineteen points from six games played. Just four points behind leaders Loughborough Students.
In the first division there were away wins for Clipstone and Hucknall Town on Wednesday night.
Clipstone beating Newark Town 3-1 at the YMCA thanks to goals from Lewis Weaver, Tim Gregory and Gareth Marcurtis.
Hucknall impressing at Southwell City, winning 4-0 thanks to goals from Joe Ashurst, Craig Westcarr and two from Morgan Bell.
In action on Tuesday, Radford drew 1-1 with Harrowby United, Clifton beat Rainworth Miners Welfare 2-1, Gedling MW beat Blidworth 2-0, West Bridgford lost 2-0 at Saffron Dynamo whilst there was a 7-0 win for Dunkirk over Leicester St Andrews. George Harrison netting a hat-trick for the Boatmen.
The Division One table is currently headed by Aylestone Park with Radford in second dropping points in the title race, Hucknall Town move into the playoff places after their win at Southwell.
