Scott Brace Helps Notts Stay Top

Woking 2-3 Notts County (National League) 08.10.22

A Cedwyn Scott double helped Notts County to a victory in Surrey. The Magpies had to cling on towards the end of the match during a game where they didn’t have it all their own way but an important victory in the title race for Luke Williams’ side who are now boasting seven league wins in their last eight matches.

The Magpies took an early lead as Ruben Rodrigues converted from the spot on nine minutes after Chicksen was falled. Scott then made it two to the visitors on fourteen after turning home Chicksen’s cross.

Woking responded on the half hour with a goal through Daly but Notts response was immediate. Scott poaching from close range after slick play by Rodrigues and Langstaff who nipped in ahead of the goalkeeper to pull back to his former Gateshead strike partner.

Langstaff had a couple of chances in the second half to add to his bulging tally for the season but couldn’t get on the scoresheet himself. Subbed late on from Mitchell, he watched Notts concede a penalty with three minutes to go. A handball inside the area giving Woking the chance to pull one back, Grego-Cox responding, but despite a late push, the home side couldn’t level and Notts take all three points to stay top by a single point over rivals Wrexham.
