What a year it has been for Nottinghamshire batsman Haseeb Hameed, in helping his side win the County Championship Second Division, scoring 1,235 runs at an average of 58.80 in the process, the England International has now earned himself a two year contract keeping him at Trent Bridge until at least 2024.
Red ball vice-captain Hameed was brilliant last season, in form from the get go and leading from the front, the former Lancashire star scoring seven fifties and four tons as Notts took their title to claim promotion to the first division.
On receiving his contract extension, Hameed said “Although I have only been here a few years, Trent Bridge feels like home for me, and I am really grateful for the way I have been accepted and supported since arriving.”
He continued “My confidence has grown a great deal, and even in the last year I feel like my game has developed to the point where I played better than ever.
“Those results wouldn’t be possible without those who have stood by my side and helped me, but also the culture around the club in general, which has allowed me to thrive in a relaxed, yet focused environment.
Hameed will head a side’s line-up that will next summer, include bowler and fellow England International, Olly Stone who joined at the end of last season from Warwickshire on a three year deal.
Whilst club veteran Luke Fletcher will celebrate his testimonial year, with the Chairman of Fletcher’s Testimonial Committee Ray Burge, stating “People can expect a programme of events of the type that Luke himself would want to attend with support from his sporting pals, honest tales of his escapades on and off the pitch and the humour that he maintains every time you’re in his company.
“We all love spending time with Luke and he wants to give back to those that have supported him since he made his debut 15 years ago during this programme of events.”
The club state events to be expected, include sporting dinners, charity fundraisers with auctions and memorabilia to raise money for his chosen charity PASIC.
