A handful of games in both the East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League, and the Nottinghamshire Girls & Ladies League, managed to beat the continuing weather predicaments this past weekend with Basford United moving level on points with Mansfield Town in the East Midlands Premier.
Basford led after fifteen minutes of their game away to nearby Long Eaton United, Izzy Sullivan with a customary goal when firing home from fully 25-yards; Jess Shaw doubled the lead for the visitors shortly before the break when she got on the end of a through-ball from Maisie Plumb for a two-goal, interval lead.
It took a while for the third to be added, but it eventually arrived with a little over ten minutes remaining when substitute Alana Crawford slammed the ball into the roof the net; Sullivan completed the rout just minutes later with her second, and the victors’ fourth of the afternoon, sweeping a left-footed effort into the top corner.

Victory for Basford saw them move level with Notts rivals, Mansfield, in joint-fourth, on ten points apiece, the pair finding themselves finishing the year five behind the unbeaten leaders, Lincoln United, who are yet to drop points in the league thus far.
Notts County Development sit third in Division One North after they edged a seven-goal thriller away to Asfordby Amateurs at the weekend, Arnold Eagles finishing the year top on fifteen points, two clear of Nottingham Trent University and three ahead of County; the other three Notts sides in the division see Sherwood sitting sixth, West Bridgford seventh, and Sandiacre bottom.
There was also a seven-goal thriller in Division One Central, SJR Worksop suffering their first league defeat of the season when away to Grimsby Borough; SJR currently sit third in the table and Retford down in eighth.
With Arnold Eagles taking a home walkover against Skegness Town in the East Midlands League Cup, Mansfield Town still have theirs away to Grimsby Town to play following postponement, as does the derby in the League Plate following the calling off of Sherwood and Retford.
Meanwhile, in the Notts Girls & Ladies League two games were played in Seniors One, Alex Francis with the only goal of the games as Hucknall Town won 1-0 at Arnold Eagles Flyers, whilst Gemma Hodgkinson bagged a brace for Teversal as they drew 2-2 at home to Mansfield Town Development, Bethany Jones and Georgie Shaw with the replies.
Finishing the year off, Newark Town lead the way by two points, but have played more games than those directly beneath them; Radcliffe Olympic sit second on fifteen, NTU Pink third on thirteen, and Arnold Flyers in fourth on twelve.
The NGL League Cup match between University of Nottingham IV and Radcliffe Olympic was postponed.
