Burrows Treble Helps Worksop Bounce Back

Worksop Town beat Ashton United 3-2 on Saturday to bounce back to winning ways after midweek Northern Premier League defeat against Prescot Cables.

The Tigers were reliant on three goals from Jordan Burrows who opened the scoring at Hurst Cross on ten before doubling the away sides advantage on 23.

Darius Osei did pull a goal back on the stroke of half time but Burrows grabbed the hat-trick ball on 64, Osei netting again with two minutes remaining to ensure a nervy finish but Craig Parry’s Tigers held on to a vital three points in the promotion race, second placed Worksop closing the gap to a point on leaders Macclesfield who were in FA Cup action and now have a game in hand.

Gresley were good value and scored again and with time running out it looked like a bleak day for Newark, before Joe Braithwaite netted on 88 and with four minutes of stoppage time played, Ryan Smith scored a leveller to earn Town a likely point.
