Andi Bell’s Mansfield Town side remained in third place, on goal-difference, following their 1-1 draw at the weekend when away to the bottom side in the East Midlands Women’s Regional League Premier Division, Nottingham Trent University.
The hosts, picking up only their second point of the season, put on a battling display in a game that saw both goals netted in the first half, the Stags levelling proceedings when Grace Shipman put away a ball from Millie Edwards.
It was a point that stretches Bell’s charges’ current unbeaten run in the league to four matches, having lost only once in six thus far, and sees them just two adrift of joint-leaders, Chesterfield, and Sheffield (the firmer have a game in hand).

Stamford have moved level with Mansfield when leapfrogging their visitors, Basford United, who they beat 5-2, Emma Pollard with a brace for the hosts, the visitors replying through Maisie Plumb and Maja Kocik, whilst the game between leaders Chesterfield, and the free-falling SJR Worksop, was abandoned after 75 minutes due to injury to the home ‘keeper, the game was 1-1 at the time.
In Division One North, Notts County Development were beaten 4-1 at home to Belper Town, the visitors leading by three at the interval, whilst a game was also played in the Nottinghamshire FA Women’s County Cup, West Bridgford Colts easing past their visitors, Sherwood, 4-1, thanks to goals from Charlotte Gardiner-Banks, Ellie Maltby, Katie Rogers, and substitute Fran Godbehere.
Meanwhile, there was a bucket-load of goals scored in the Second Round of the Notts Girls & Ladies League Seniors Cup competition, some 47 of them coming in three games, as visiting sides ran riot.
Top-scoring was Cotgrave, who put 21 past hosts Pelican Colts, without reply, Lucy Norwood netting seven times, Sophie Williams four, hat-tricks for Ellie Cropley and Abigail Pendergast, and a brace for Stacey Nicholls.
Keyworth United were next up, they winning 14-0 at Bottesford with Shantay Wright firing eight of them, Sammy Jacques three, and Lucy Belz two; whilst Blidworth Welfare picked up a 12-1 win when at Meden Vale Colts, Harley Brown bagging seven of those.
Other victors included Lowdham Colts (6-0 at Woodhouse Colts), Mansfield Town Development (4-0 at home to Bingham), and Shirebrook Rangers (3-1 winners at Stapleford Town); Underwood Villa, Basford United U23s, NTU Pink, and Sherwood Development, also progressed to the next round.
Speaking of cup competitions, the draw has also been made for the next round of both the EMWRFL League Cup, and League Plate, with, due to the numbers involved, a plethora of sides receiving byes to the next round.
Notts clubs in those respective competitions, Basford United will travel to Loughborough Foxes Vixens in the League Cup (byes for West Bridgford Colts and Arnold Eagles), and Sherwood will host Newport Pagnell Town in the Lague Plate (byes for Mansfield, NTU, and Notts County Development) – ties to be played on 10 November, with extra-time and penalties if level after ninety minutes.
Notts County meanwhile, in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands, slipped to sixth in the table after they lost 3-1 away to Boldmere St. Michaels, their third straight in the league.
The hosts leapfrogged County into fifth place after they took a three-goal, interval lead, Leah Hardy with County’s consolation thirteen minutes from time.
