Olympic Edge Southwell To Stay Top

A handful of games were played across the Notts Senior League on Saturday afternoon, as the continuing, ever-changing weather conditions, caused havoc with the fixture schedules, and just nine games going ahead.

In the NSL Premier Division, two games went ahead, and they shared ten goals, with Aslockton & Orston taking advantage of others’ inactivity to move into seventh place of what is a congested, mid-table.

Just eight points split Borrowash Victoria, in fourth, and Beeston, down in thirteenth, with ninth-to-twelfth all on nineteen points apiece; for Aslockton, they eased to a 5-1 win at home to Dunkirk to pick up their sixth win of the season, in a game which saw six goals, the hosts netting through Sam Brakewell, Aidan Loscalzo, Greg McLean, Sam Philpotts, and Jack Robb.

Ruddington Village also find themselves in that pack of ten, they sitting ninth following their 4-0 win away to Wollaton, becoming one of the four sides on nineteen points; Ross Cochrane-Smith scored twice for the victors, and he was joined on the scoresheet by Ethan Bruiners, and Billy Farnsworth, avenging the previous weeks defeat to the same side.

Keyworth United meanwhile were on Senior Trophy duty and eased themselves into the next round courtesy of a 4-1 win at home to FC Pelican.

Plenty of goals were scored in the two, Division One matches played, Rushcliffe winning 3-2 away to Ravenshead, whilst the game between AC United and leaders Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves, finished in a 3-3 draw, the latter now nine clear at the top of the division, but played four more than second place Bingham Town, and five than Colsterworth Sports & Social.

Just one game went ahead in the Division Two, Notts Olympic keeping their noses out in front following a 4-3 win at home to mid-table Southwell City St. Mary’s, Nile Ions-Hall with a brace for the victors, the visitors replying with a brace from Ben Selby; Olympic lead second place Gedling Southbank by three, but having played three games more.

Langwith Whitestar, joint-third in Division Three, were beaten in the Derbyshire Junior Cup North when losing 3-0 away to Tintwistle Athletic Reserves, whilst the two games in the NSL’s Development Division yielded some twelve goals, both hosts collecting 5-1 victories.

Second place AFC Warriors won at home Cotgrave Development, to move within a point of leaders Attenborough, goals coming from Toby Cullen, Dex Robinson, Jake Warrener, and substitutes Jordan Spence, and Ethan Wells, whilst third place Newark & Sherwood, they eased past Red Sea thanks to a brace from Tyler Rigley, and one apiece foe Harry Rusynuik, Lateef Edu, and Lewis Meekings.
