NSL Round Up – Welfare Closing On Title

It’s been a two-horse race at the top for some time now, and it’s looking like the race for the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division title, between leaders FCV Grace Dieu, and second place Cotgrave, is going to go right to the wire.

The advantage is in the hands of the leaders, who’ve a game more to play than Cotgrave, and a six-point advantage following matches at the weekend; FCV were inactive, and Cotgrave, they edged seventh place Awsworth Villa 3-2 on the road.

Gabriel Ebede netted twice for an Awsworth side looking for a top five finish, however, the title-chasing visitors would find three goals of their own to take the points as Patrick Ferguson, Franco Paz, and Ben Upton (on his birthday) netted for Cotgrave.

Aslockton & Orston meanwhile are storming towards a potential, third place finish, replacing Keyworth United on goal-difference, after they won 6-2 on the road at FC Cavaliers; a hat-trick from Kieran Wells set them up nicely whilst further goals came via Aidan Loscalzo, George Denham, and Johnny Lees.

Borrowash Victoria and Collingham shared the spoils in a goalless draw, whilst there were wins for Wollaton, 3-0 at home to Beeston, and Radcliffe Olympic, 3-2 away to Dunkirk, both victors seeing three different scorers.

Kimberley Miners Welfare Reserves continue to close in on the Division One title after they eased to a 4-1 success, at home to AC United, under those Friday Night Lights, the victors scoring a pair of quick-fire goals in each half through Bijan Pakrouz and Joshua Caley in the first, and via Louis Fazel and Lewis Deavin in the second.

Colsterworth moved above East Leake Robins, on goal-difference, after beating them 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Eathan Milne and Alfie Sheen, Sam Eggleston replying, whilst fourth place Bingham Town went nap in a 7-0 win on the road at Beeston Old Boys Association.

The bottom of the table side has endured a torrid season and Bingham’s Jacob Moyes was in no, forgiving mood either, he rattling in five of his sides seven goals, Joseph Hornigold and Harry Stannard with the other two.

Meden Vale Colts picked up a 3-0 win at Bilborough TRD with goals from George Camps, Jake Smith, and Nick Westerman, as they look for a top five finish, whilst there were also successes for Sandiacre and Ravenshead, at Stapleford Reserves (3-2) and Rushcliffe (3-1) respectively, and for PMG Excel, who win 2-1 at home to Keyworth Reserves.

Elston United now have a five-point advantage on Notts Olympic atop of Division Two after their 2-0 home win over Arnold Town Reserves in Saturday, Harry Johnson and Samuel Lloyd with the goals, whilst Gedling Southbank moved with a point of second following their 3-1 win at AJ Sport with Stephen King, John Mcardle, and Arron Darch all netting.

The Rossoneri won 3-2 at home to FC Pelican, and it was honours even, 2-2, in the game between FC Cavaliers Reserves and Calverton Miners Welfare.

The two games which finished in Division Three both had 2-0 outcomes, Collingham Reserves winning at Awsworth Villa Reserves, and Langwith Whitestar seeing off visitors Cotgrave Reserves; whilst in the Development Division, Group A would see Newark & Sherwood ease to a 3-1 win at Attenborough, and in Group B, Pegasus won 4-2 at home to Linby.
