Midweek Round Up – PMG Hit Five

A handful of games involving Notts-based clubs were played in the Central Midlands Alliance and Notts Senior League this past midweek, with plenty of goals coming in the two games played in Division One of the latter.

Both Hucknall Town Reserves, and Pass Move Grin Excel, hit five in their respective home wins, on Tuesday night, the former winning 5-1, the latter 5-0; at Hucknall, the hosts are looking at a top ten finish and braces from Gievanni Andrew and Connor Whiles strengthened that against Sandiacre Town, although sides beneath them can still overtake on the final day.

Meanwhile, at PMG, their win over Ravenshead sees them continue to push for a top six finish with a game to go, Noah Tesfalem continued his fine season with another brace, whilst Luke Aloysius also added two, alongside a goal from Bachir Tyera.

In the NSL Premier Division, Tuesday would see Ruddington Village win 1-0 away to Southwell City Reserves, Ross Cochrane-Smith with the only goal, whilst the following night Awsworth Villa, sitting fifth, won 3-1 against visiting FC Sez, Josh Rae with a brace for the victors.

An upcoming change in the Central Midlands Alliance will see the departure of Premier South side, Arnold Town, they switching the CMA for the NSL next season.

The Eagles, who joined the Central Midlands in 2019 following spells in the East Midlands Counties (2013-19), and Northern Counties East (1993-2013), announced on their socials a couple of days ago (26 April) that: “Arnold Town FC have been successful in our application to move to the Notts Senior League for the 2025/26 season.

“This provides more opportunity for sponsorship locally and reduces travel.

“We thank the CMAL for all their work during our stay over the last six seasons and now look forward to the fresh challenge that the NSL will provide.”

They immediately followed that up with news that their manager, Ash White, and assistant manager, Adam Clift, have committed themselves to the club for the new challenge in the NSL next season.

As for games played midweek in the CMA, two were completed in the Premier South, both at the bottom end of the table.

Mansfield Hosiery Mills pushed themselves up to tenth place (they can still finish eighth) with a comfortable, 3-0 home win over Holbrook St Michaels, which was their third win on the spin.

Warwick Wood gave the hosts the lead early on, with Aston Thompson adding a second, the scoring was completed at the death when Billy Brooks added the third in the ninetieth minute.

Teversal’s recent run of seven unbeaten however came to a halt in their final game of the season, losing 2-0 at home to Wirksworth Ivanhoe, a brace from Lucas Brough, one in each half, means that the hosts will finish in the bottom three.

One game was also played in the CMA’s Division One East, honours even as Southwell City Development and Mansfield HM Blue played out a 1-1 draw, the visitors looking for a fourth-place finish.
