Mansfield Progress In County Cup
Nottinghamshire FA Women’s County Cup holders, Mansfield Town, will return to the end of season showpiece following a comfortable, semi-final success against Nottingham Trent University on Sunday afternoon.
Led by manager Andi Bell, East Midlands Women’s Regional Football League Premier Division side, Mansfield, reached the final for the second successive season, this time on the back of a comfortable, 5-0 win, with all the damage having been done in the first half.
Maiden competition winners back in 1998, Mansfield, led by Bell since 2020, won last season’s competition with victory over Basford United, this season they’ll face the fairytale story from the University of Nottingham.
Against NTU, Mansfield roared into a four-goal, interval lead, courtesy of Megan Brierley, Ainsley Allan, Monica Bowley, and Olivia Standeven goals, before wrapping up a convincing result with Millie Edwards netting in the second half.

They’ll oppose a University of Nottingham side who’ve not only shone in this seasons’ County Cup, but also racked up an enjoyable, historic run, in the Women’s FA Cup earlier in the season.
Opposing Notts County Reserves in the final four of the NFA County Cup, the EMWRFL Division One Central side overturned a one-goal deficit at the break, to bast their way into the final.
Despite being a goal down going into the second half, UoN rallied brilliantly to claim the victory, their goals coming from Emily Nedom, Freya Anderson, and Mia Solorio-Smith.

Elsewhere, two Notts-based sides were in action in the EMWRFL Division One North, and with contrasting fortunes.
Arnold Eagles strengthened second place with a 3-1 home win over sixth place Cleethorpes Town, goals coming from Hannah Daniel, Natasha Leach, and Yasmine Uppal – they now sit five points behind runaway leaders Grimsby Town Academy, who not only have games in hand, but possess a 100% record with ten wins from ten thus far.
The other result would see second bottom Newark Town on the end of a 5-0 thumping by hosts Chesterfield Community Trust, they moving third in the table with Rosalynn Jones grabbing a brace.
