Tigers Take Fylde Scalp
Worksop Town picked up a valuable three points in the National League North on Saturday afternoon following their narrow, 1-0 win at home to AFC Fylde.
The winning goal arrived late in the first half through Lewis Whitham, keeping the Tigers ten points clear of the bottom three as sides head towards the home stretch.
In the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands, leaders Carlton Town, and third place Basford United, suffered defeat on the road with the former going down 2-1 at Coleshill Town, and the latter 3-0 at Lichfield City.
Sherwood Colliery and Boston Town are level-pegging atop the United Counties League Premier North, Sherwood being held to a 1-1 draw away to Skegness Town, Jamie York netting in the first half, whilst Boston have now won their last five including Saturday’s 2-0 win at Clay Cross Town.
Eastwood CFC are within two points of the play-offs following their 1-0 win away to Newark & Sherwood United, Zak Goodson with the only goal, and Hucknall Town sit eighth after winning by the same when at Wisbech Town, Lewis Belgrave netting in stoppage time.
The only other game involving Notts clubs in the UCL Premier saw AFC Mansfield win 2-1 at home to Melton Town, Ryan Ingram and Kaylum Mitchell netting to keep their dreams of a play-off spot alive.
Retford’s title-charge was held up when they were beaten 3-2 away to Coalville Town, whilst their local rivals, Retford United won 4-0 at home to play-off Stapleford Town, the Choughs netting through Liam Bennett and Rory Coleman whilst the Badgers’ four came via David Kolodynski, Ross Duggan, Oliver Wilson, and Drew Allwood.
Clifton All Whites remain in the top ten with a 4-1 win away to Pinxton, Mylo Baker bagging a brace, whilst West Bridgford won 5-1 at home to Dunkirk, Elliott King with a hat-trick, Clipstone won 3-2 at home to Radford, and Sandiacre Town drew 1-1 at Holwell Sports.
Elsewhere there were defeats for Southwell City, Shirebrook Town, and Gedling Miners Welfare, against Staveley Miners Welfare (scored twice in the final ten minutes), FCV Grace Dieu, and South Normanton Athletic, respectively.
Ollerton Town moved up to eleventh in the Central Midlands Alliance Premier North after goals from Joe Wilson, Tom McNally, and Harvey Limb, gave them a 3-1 win away to AFC Phoenix, whilst Worksop Town Reserves were held to a goalless draw at AFC Bentley, and SJR Worksop fell to a 1-0 loss at home to Rossington Main Reserves.
In the CMA Premier South, Selston hold top spot and won 2-0 at home to Borrowash Victoria, Colt Reynolds and Ty Short netting, whilst Blidworth Welfare lost 3-1 away to Holbrook Sports.
As for the Nottinghamshire Senior League Premier Division, leaders Cotgrave tasted defeat in the league for the first time, going down 2-0 away to Arnold Town, for whom Kenechukwu
Agu scored twice, whilst joint-second pairing, Awsworth Villa and Bingham Town both collected wins on the road.
Awsworth won 5-2 away to Keyworth United and Bingham picked up a 2-0 win at FC Cavaliers, but are still a sizeable nineteen points behind the leaders; Jack Robb bagged a hat-trick for fourth place Aslockton & Orston away to Southwell City Reserves, Wollaton won 3-0 at Ruddington Village thanks to goals from Joseph Evans, Jacob Taylor, and Shardan Buchanan.
The remaining two games also saw away wins, Woodthorpe Park Rangers 1-0 at Beeston through Malaky Eshelby, and Collingham by 3-1 at Dunkirk courtesy of James Evans, Lucas Waddington, and Harrison Gomm.
