Worksop Crush Relegated Sports
Well, that’s certainly one way of securing National League North football for the following season; hosting Peterborough Sports at the Windsor Foodservice Stadium, not only did the Tigers put their opponents to the sword, they did so in style.
Eight goals scored, two different players notching hat-tricks, a clean sheet, and the visitors finishing with nine men following to red cards, one coming midway through each half.
Craig Parry’s Worksop Town side have adjusted well to the division this season, and this win pushed them up to thirteenth in the table, with a game to play; a six-goal first half the best they’ve put out this season.
Second bottom Sports had no answer at all as both Oliver Greaves and Szhem Whyte-Hall helped themselves to hat-tricks, both notching first half braces as the Tigers raced into a four-goal lead in just sixteen minutes.
Greaves had the hosts two goals to the good after just ten minutes, Mason O’Malley added a third, and Whyte-Hall a fourth, before the visitors had their first sending off; a little over twenty minutes in and Elliott Whitehouse saw red for dissent, and the Sports found themselves down to ten.
Whyte-Hall added his second and the Tigers’ fifth just after the half hour mark, with Liam Waldock the sixth on the stroke of half-time; Greaves fired home the seventh and complete his hat-trick just before the hour, with Whyte-Hall doing the same minutes later.
Sports were reduced to nine just after the hour mark when Zach Willis was dismissed before a flurry of changes from the hosts saw the game out to its conclusion, and an emphatic, 8-0 win.
In the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands, Carlton Town are still in the running for the title, although leaders Anstey Nomads need a win in the last game of the season to seal it themselves; Town, they were held to a 1-1 draw away to Sutton Coldfield Town, whilst third place Basford United won 2-1 at home to Rugby Borough.
The Millers finished with nine men themselves when Niall Hylton was dismissed just before the half hour, Niall Davie earning a share of the spoils late on; meanwhile the Ambers claimed maximum points thanks to goals from Tyreace Palmer and Jordy Hallam.
The remaining games were played in the United Counties League Division One, Sandiacre Town bagging six, and Dunkirk four, in respective wins, the former seeing Leo Almond bag a brace in his sides 6-0 win at Clipstone, with Noah Softleigh-Moore scoring twice in the latters’ 4-1 win over visiting Gedling Miners Welfare.
Elsewhere in the division, Clifton All Whites won 3-1 at Shirebrook Town, West Bridgford won 3-2 at home to Southwell City, and Radford were beaten 2-1 at Sleaford Town, whilst the play-offs have been officially finalised following issues in the Division One scenario.

Teversal and SJR Worksop (unbeaten in seven) both registered home wins in the Central Midlands Alliance Premier North, the former, 1-0 over Brodsworth Main thanks to Tyron Mackaskill’s goal, and the latter, 3-2 against Staveley Miners Welfare Reserves, goals coming via George McKernan, Scott Wesley, and Callum Edwards.
