Coronavirus Cancellations
Th FA Premier League and Football League have postponed all football fixtures involving the top four divisions up until at least 3rd April 2020 as the decision to take action now to minimise the risk of spreading Coronavirus has been made by officials.
This will of course effect Nottingham Forest’s match at Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow which has now been postponed as well as Mansfield Town’s match verses Crewe Alexandra at Field Mill with elite level Womens and Youth games also postponed as well as international fixtures until further notice at the start of next month.
With Ice Hockey supporters already across in Northern Ireland, Nottingham Panthers two matches against Belfast Giants this weekend have also been called off in the Elite League with the organisation stating “In the wake of that news, the Elite League has no choice but to shut down the rest of the season.”
In a statement it said “The league feels it has taken its ‘can-do, will-do’ efforts to the limit and whilst the outcome is sure to disappoint fans across the country there was no alternative in these unprecedented times.”
“We are confident everyone will understand the rationale behind the league’s decision.”
“Further announcements will follow next week.”
