Basford United are through to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Trophy where they will play either Radcliffe or FC United of Manchester after beating Mickleover Sports 3-0 at Greenwich Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
Two goals from Leam Hearn and one from Josh Law saw United through in front of 352 in the rain.
Of the other local sides in action in the competition most matches were called off due to bad weather but Grantham Town of Lincolnshire beat Rushall Olympic 5-3 thanks to a hat-trick by former Forest, Notts and Stags striker Craig Westcarr whilst Coalville beat Lowestoft 4-2. The Gingerbreads will face either Halesowen or a possible local derby at Stamford whilst Coalville will travel to Natntwich or Bamber Bridge.
Many of the postponed cup games will be played this midweek with Carlton Town hosting Matlock Town in their re-arranged fixture on Wednesday, the winners facing Ashton United at home.
With plenty of postponements effecting the local league games too, Alfreton Town’s National League North fixture at Hereford will have to be played later on in the season after that match was called off whilst both Ilkeston & Loughborough Dynamo’s games in the Northern Premier League South East Section were also called off.
With minimal football in the North East Counties League and the Midland Football League the only match in the East Midlands Counties saw Kimberley Miners Welfare beat Graham Street Prims 7-2 with Jordan Smith netting a hat-trick.
In the Notts Senior League only two games survived the weather in the Premier League on Saturday as leaders Bingham Town beat FC Cavaliers 5-1 whilst Calverton Miners Welfare drew with Awsworth Villa 2-2.
On Friday night Eastwood Development best Stapleford Town 3-2 whilst Woodthorpe Park Rangers beat Bilborough Town 5-4.
