Notts & Hartlepool To Remember

Notts County Football Club will be paying their respects to the servicemen and women who have given their lives in war on Saturday as they take on Hartlepool at Meadow Lane with discounted tickets available for Armed Forces personnel.

The Magpies will also be remembering fondly their former Chairman Jack Dunnett who died aged 97 this week. The club will hold a minutes silence ahead of kick off for both Jack and to those who died in service to their country.

County take on Hartlepool in National League action full of confidence having whopped past Woking in midweek with a 4-0 win. The Pools have won their last three games in all competitions and sit exactly mid-table in twelfth position with 26 points from 18 played just four points from Notts in seventh who have played a game more.

Former Cardiff City defender Ben Turner who signed for Notts in the summer has been impressed with the clubs recent form as much as what goes off behind the scenes stating “We have to do everything we can to maintain it. That means the things no one sees – the gym work, the recovery to be ready for the next game and all the other bits, too.”

Turner, who has Premier League experience and played over 100 games for Cardiff before joining Burton Albion and more recently Mansfield Town stated “With the individuals and management at this club, I believe we can win the ultimate prize, but we have to take things one game at a time and not look too far ahead because you can’t bypass anything.”

The defender has been a main stay in the side in recent weeks and with the club only conceding five goals in their last eight outings Manager Neal Ardley will feel he has enough firepower with the likes of Enzio Boldewijn, Kristian Dennis and Wes Thomas to make sure they get the win they need to push themselves further into the promotion pack.

Kick off at Meadow Lane is at 3pm with tickets available to buy on the day.
