Mansfield Town will entertain Colchester United at Field Mill on Saturday with the Essex side fresh off a 3-1 win at Crawley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night to now face what looks to be a memorable trip to Manchester United in round four for their fans.
Whether that side distraction will work in Mansfield’s favour is a question that will no doubt be asked come kick off with John Dempster’s men hoping for back to back victories that will see his 14th placed Stags side potentially leapfrog their 9th placed opponents who are three points ahead of Mansfield in the EFL League Two table.
Colchester have won their last two league and cup games are unbeaten in three and sit four points outside the playoffs but Mansfield fresh from an impressive away win at Walsall will be looking to impose the fifth league defeat of the season on John McGreal and his side.
The Stags home form has been poor this season with just two wins from eight matches but Jacob Mellis hopefully returning to the fold and with U’s top scorer Luke Norris potentially missing with the suspended Theo Robinson it might be a great time to play against a side depleted of goals and with focus potentially elsewhere?
Mansfield strikers Danny Rose, Craig Davies and Jordan Graham are still expected to be ruled out whilst Krystian Pearce and Hayden White are also on the treatment table.
Tickets are available on the day with those aged 6 and under going free.
There will also be the clubs annual fireworks display on Sunday 3rd November with pre-purchase tickets available only from £6 adults and £4 concessions with gates opening at the One Call Stadium from 5pm.
