Nottingham Panthers are back in Challenge Cup action this weekend in the know that three points will take them through to the Quarter Finals although should they finish bottom of their three team group they still have a ‘wildcard’ chance to qualify in the ‘Play-In’ round.
With Sheffield Steelers currently topping the eight match Group C having played all their games the Panthers will need to better the Manchester Storm result in what is effectively a double header playoff both home and away that will conclude the early round proceedings and decide who goes through into knock-out hockey.
The Panthers host storm on Saturday night off the back of two straight home wins whilst the decider could be played at the Manchester Arena the following evening should Tim Wallace’s side take maximum points at the National Ice Centre.
The Panthers will wear their ‘lucky green’ sweaters on Saturday with a potential debut for new signing Julian Talbot.
With tickets available face off on Saturday evening is at 7pm with the following nights match at 5:30pm in Manchester.
Panthers captain Sam Herr stated “It’s two wins we need no excuses, we’ve gotta get it done.” As Nottingham have a proud Challenge Cup history over the years having won it eight times which is four more than anyone else.
