Beeston Take Point At Holcombe
The Bees took a share of the spoils in Kent on Sunday but might have been disappointed after throwing away a two goal lead as the ladies were well beaten by Holcombe on Saturday in their tie.
Beeston Men opened the scoring on a lovely Remembrance Sunday in Rochester when Nick Park netted on 16 minutes before debutant Elliot Barton put the away side 2-0 with just 20 minutes gone.
Rob Field however pulled a goal back three minutes after the break for half time and Holcombe equalised through Barry Middleton with ten to go to ensuring for the second successive game the Bees men would take away a 2-2 draw after repeating the feat they achieved against Reading two weeks ago.
Beeston now have five points from five games played and sit eighth in the ten team Mens Hockey Premier Division and have a must win game coming up at the weekend against University of Exeter who are a point below them in ninth.
The Ladies are also finding things tough in the Investec Womens Hockey League Premier Division and they were beaten 3-0 on Saturday in their match with Holcombe who lie third in the table.
Beeston are a place above bottom of their table but have a four point gap on Bowdon with University of Birmingham next up who are a point and a place above the Bees in eighth.
In mens step two Hockey, Division Two North side Nottingham University drew 3-3 at home to Bowdon this weekend whilst their step three table topping womens team made it six from six this season after beating Doncaster in the Investec Conference North 3-2. Beeston 2nd XI who prop up that league lost 2-1 at home against Cannock.
