Forest Face Bluebirds

Nottingham Forest face Cardiff City at the City Ground tomorrow afternoon knowing a win will consolidate their position in the playoffs and potentially close the gap on those above them in the race for promotion.

The Reds are in fine form of late having taken ten points from their last twelve available with a memorable win last time out against Queens Park Rangers setting the tone with excitement and anticipation amongst Forest fans ahead of Saturday’s visit of Cardiff.

The Bluebirds are under new Management with ex-Red Neil Harris in charge following Neil Warnock leaving the club earlier this month and the 11th placed team are off the back of a good win against Stoke in midweek after drawing at Charlton on Saturday.

Manager Harris who only left Millwall in October stated that he’s “hugely impressed with the players in the way they’ve responded to what I’ve asked of them. I can’t praise their character highly enough.”

Forest go in to the game full of confidence after a whopping win on Wednesday night but will be mindful of Cardiff’s recent improvements but off the back of a 4-0 away win will be hoping for another victory to continue the good form and positive performances as they aim for promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 20 years.

The Reds will most likely go with the same back line as they have during the last two matches with Jack Robinson keeping his place at left back whilst Yuri Ribeiro recovers from injury. Ben Watson should continue in midfield with Tiago Silva and there may be reward for both Joao Carvalho who scored a stunning solo effort or Alfa Semedo who returned to action from injury with a goal himself to potentially make the starting lineup.

A front three of Ameobi, Grabban and Lolley should test the Cardiff defence who are without Isaac Vassell whilst Matthew Connolly, Robert-Nesta Glatzel and Jordan Ralls are all questionable.

Ryan Yates continues his suspension after getting sent off on Saturday whilst Samba Sow is still out. Forest last hosted Cardiff in November 2017 when the away side won 2-0 with goals from Junior Hoilett and Danny Ward en-route to promotion to the Premier League. The Reds will be hoping that this year it’s their turn.

With less than 1,000 tickets still available you can still attend the match at the City Ground but fans are also reminded that NFFC Women are in FA Cup action on Sunday against Derby County Ladies so please try and make the short journey to Derby’s Mickleover Sports Ground and support the girls as well as the men if you can.
