Both the men and women’s first XI’s of Beeston Hockey Club are in action this weekend with the ladies travelling to Bowdon for their Investec Womens Hockey League Premier Division match knowing a win will be vital in moving the Bees up the table as they face the team at the bottom propping everyone else up.
Bowdon are currently on six points from eleven played with the Bees three points and two places above them having lost at East Grinstead 2-1 at the weekend.
A win for Beeston will take them to twelve points and with Holcombe playing Buckingham occupying the two places above them it offers a chance to climb the table or at least close the gap on those around the Bees.
Beeston Men take on Brooklands University of Manchester on Sunday at the Nottingham Hockey Centre coming off the back of an impressive 5-1 win at East Grinstead where Adam Dixon scored twice on his 300th Bees appearance.
Beeston are currently sixth in the Mens Hockey League Premier Division two points ahead of Brooklands in eighth so a win will be much needed to progress up the table and away from the danger zone below them.
Whilst the women get under way tomorrow afternoon at 1:45pm in Altrincham the mens match in Nottingham is 24 hours and 15 minutes later with a 2pm start on Sunday.
