Notts Clubs In Vase Action
The Third Round Proper of the Buildbase FA Vase this weekend features a tasty all Notts tie as AFC Mansfield take on Newark Flowserve at the Forest Town Arena.
The final two Robin Hood counties teams face off against each other in a 3pm kick off in a last 32 tie with the winner just three more games from a Wembley final.
AFC Mansfield are currently 18th in the Northern Counties East League but have shown good form of late and are unbeaten in four having drew their last three matches including a penalty shootout win in the League Cup against Maltby and more impressively against top of the table Penistone Church.
Newark are sixth in the Midland Football League but just four points off the top although defeat last weekend against Coventry United and a draw at Long Eaton on Tuesday has seen them slip away slightly following a run of five wins in all competitions prior to last weekend.
The Bulls have the likes of Ross Duggan and Brandon Webster who’ll provide attacking threat for the home side whilst the Highwaymen have former Celtic star Ben Hutchinson and ex Grantham Town striker Gregory Smith in fine form with the game sure to produce goals.
Elsewhere in Non-League Football Basford United of the Northern Premier League have a weekend off but South East Division leaders Carlton Town host Loughborough Dynamo in a local derby which also features Millers Manager Tommy Brookbanks against one of his old clubs.
Worksop Town could do Carlton a favour by beating Cleethorpes at Sandy Lane. They host the divisions third place team who are just a point behind Carlton with both matches kicking off at 3pm.
In the Midland League Selston travel to Tividale whilst in the NCEL First Division Retford FC host East Hull whilst Ollerton Town make the trip to the seaside as they take on Skegness.
Finally our East Midlands Counties matches see leaders Hucknall face fourth placed Dunkirk in a tasty encounter at Watnall Road whilst second play third as Gedling Miners Welfare travel to Eastwood Community.
Elsewhere Clifton travel to Barrow Town, Sherwood Colliery are at Borrowash Vics, Clipstone visit Ingles, West Bridgford take on Teversal whilst Rainworth Miners Welfare visit Kimberley Miners Welfare.
