Newark Through In Vase

AFC Mansfield 1-3 Newark Flowserve (FA Vase Round Three) 03.12.19

Newark Flowserve are through to the last 32 of the Buildbase FA Vase after beating AFC Mansfield at the Forest Town Arena on Tuesday night.

After a pre-match floodlight failure the game eventually got away at 8:30pm and Midland League Flowserve were caught napping and went behind to their Northern Counties East league hosts after just six minutes when Buxton volleyed home for the Bulls but ten minutes later they re-awoke and were level after Jamie Lloyd slid home into the bottom corner of the net.

A tense first half finished honours even but within just ten minutes of the second half Newark had the lead when the experienced striker Ben Hutchinson netted heading home at the far post to put the Highwaymen in control.

Danny Meadows twice went close before finally getting on the scoresheet on the 82nd minute when the former Boston United & Grantham Town midfielder finished from close range to put the tie to an end.

Newark will now face a trip to either Congleton or Longbridge Town who play tonight in their third round replay with a last sixteen spot at stake.
