A late equaliser by Courey Grantham gave Basford United a hard earned point at Warrington Town in the BetVictor Northern Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Third placed United went behind against fourth in the table Warrington when Jack Dunn netted on 34 minutes but Grantham levelled on 79 to keep Steve Chettle’s men ahead of the Yellows and a point nearer to top of the table South Shields although the league leaders do have two games in hand on United.
In the South East section of the NPL it wasn’t a good day for Carlton Town who fell to a second successive league defeat against Belper Town with the Millers now seventh in a table they have topped for so long during the first part of the campaign.
Alex Petersen and Evan Garnett gave Belper a two goal half time lead and although Tom Maddison scored from the spot on 66 Carlton couldn’t get a leveller and are now eight points behind top of the table Stamford with one game in hand.
Worksop Town’s match at Sheffield FC was called off as was AFC Mansfield v Garforth in the Northern Counties East League and Newark Flowserve’s match at Heather St Johns in the Midland Football League although Selston FC did manage to play this week losing 3-2 at Romulus.
In the NCEL Division One Ollerton Town’s bad luck with postponements continued with their match called off at Harrogate Railway whilst Retford FC did get to play although they might have wished they didn’t after losing 5-2 at home to Winterton.
