Teversal & Newark Through
Teversal and Newark Flowserve are through to the fourth round of the Notts Senior FA Cup after winning their respective games with Tevie beating Rainworth Miners Welfare in a hot tempered match 2-1 in the cold and Newark edging West Bridgford 5-4 in a hot action packed encounter of football at a frosty Regatta Way.
In a crazy game Trentside, East Midlands Counties side West Bridgford went 2-0 up with goals through Ben Clark and Ellis Williamson before Newark a league above (playing in the Midland Football League) pulled one back through former Celtic striker Ben Hutchinson.
Flowserve levelled the scores when midfielder Kyle Dixon rounded the goalkeeper to equalise before Hutchinson netted his second to give the away side the lead but West Bridgford weren’t done as they pegged things back to 3-3 through Tim Hopkinson and took the lead themselves with Williamson’s second goal of the match before Solomon Miller levelled things up.
With the game at 4-4 it was left for big striker Gregg Smith to snatch the winner and send Flowserve into the last sixteen in front of a good travelling army of Highwaymen supporters.
In North Notts, Teversal hosted their cross town rivals from the other side of Mansfield as Rainworth were in town and in a frosty and feisty derby game the home side took the lead through Kurt Bamford before the same player was sent off following an altercation with the Wrens Chris Timons who also saw red for his actions.
As things were looking very much like a home win with just five minutes left the away side levelled through substitute Kieran Darby before an injury time winner for Tevie as John Radford and Ryan Hibbert clashed they were both sent to the stands as the game finished with nine against nine.
In East Midlands Counties league action their was just one game last night as Dunkirk beat hosts Clifton at the Norman Archer Memorial Ground through a single Grant Tobin effort to move to fourth in the table.
Tonight in more third round Senior Cup action Newark Town host Awsworth Villa whilst AFC Dunkirk entertain Eastwood Community.
