Forest Knocked Out Of Youth Cup

Wolverhampton Wanderers U18 3-0 Nottingham Forest U18 (FA Youth Cup Round Three) 18.12.19

Nottingham Forest under 18’s went crashing out of the FA Youth Cup last night as they were beaten by Wolverhampton Wanderers U18 3-0 at Molineaux.

The Reds youngsters fell behind on seven minutes when Theo Corbeanu smashed home from close range but fought back in a first half largely dominated by the home side until Elliott Andrew placed wide and Alex Mighten went close before Franck Amekortu scorched a shot over the bar from 18 yards.

Forest might have thought they could come out in the second half seeking to quickly level things up but any hopes of that were dashed within the opening minutes of the restart when Chem Campbell raced through on goal to finish and despite Mighten going close to pulling one back it was Wolves the more confident and impressive of the two sides who would go on to clinch the win when Campbell scored his second after good work by Statham in injury time.

A defeat against higher ranked opposition ends Forest’s FA Youth Cup dream for another year as the team now rests up over Christmas before focus draws to their Professional Development League campaign in January when they return to action against league leaders Wigan Athletic.

Forest: Statham, Bello, Spooner, O. Hammond, Sanders, Mutoti, A. Hammond (Jackson-Davis 69), Back, Andrew, Amerkortu (Fankwe 79), Mighten.
