Improving Notts Re-Ignite Playoff Push
It’s been a fantastic Christmas and New Year period for Notts County who after slumping to no win in five returned to league action after seeing off Chesterfield in the FA Trophy with a 4-2 win at Halifax.
That victory at the Shay turned Notts fortunes around and the Magpies followed the impressive efforts in West Yorkshire with a 3-0 Boxing Day win against Maidenhead before a solitary Wes Thomas strike was enough to see off plucky Solihull Moors.
On New Years Day after three succesive victories Notts were held 0-0 at Maidenhead but in taking 10 points from 12 available over the holiday period they are very much back in the hunt for promotion and now sit 7th in the National League table in the final playoff place all be it nine points behind leaders Barrow who have a game in hand.
This month Notts host third placed Bromley on Saturday in a mouth watering match that could see the Pies close the gap on those above before FA Trophy duty next weekend as they welcome Dagenham & Redbridge to Meadow Lane.
Neal Ardley’s men end the month with a trip to Fylde (on the 14th) before hosting Dover (Jan 18th) and again Dagenham this time away and this time in league action on the 25th.
Another three wins at least this month and Notts will very much be where they want to be come the business end of the campaign going into February with Defender Connell Rawlinson stating “I’m really happy with the Christmas form and would’ve snapped your hand off for 10 points and three clean sheets from the first four games, and now attention turns to Bromley.”
Rawlinson stated “You can see that everyone’s bought into what we want to be as a team.”
“We want to press, we want to play with a high tempo and if we keep playing the way we are, we won’t go far wrong between now and the end of the season.”
