Nottingham Panthers 3-2 Glasgow Clan *aot (Elite League) 16.01.20
Nottingham Panthers were taken to overtime by Glasgow Clan last night in the clubs first Elite League appearance since returning from Denmark as Continental Cup Runners-Up last weekend as the home side eventually came through a tough test to win 3-2 at the Motorpoint Arena.
In the first period Brett Perlini opened the scoring following good play by Georgs Golokovs before Clan pulled level through Matt Stainsz.
In the second period it was the visitors who struck first Chad Rau slashed home but Sam Herr levelled soon after firing a quick shot home before ending the period on the penalty kill after losing Rob Lachowicz sent to the box for holding.
In the third both teams couldn’t find a winner with the visitors hitting a post the closest to finding the net sending the game to OT where just 1.08 in Jake Hansen fired home during a powerplay after the American had took a stick to the face late in the third.
For Nottingham it’s now ten wins from 12 in all competitions and nine from 11 in the league. The Panthers sit third below Sheffield and Cardiff in the table with a trip to Scotland and bottom of the table Fife Flyers next up on Sunday.
