The aftermaths of Storm Dennis has predictably had its effect on local football this week with matches again called off on Tuesday and Wednesday night across Nottinghamshire.
Tonight’s Notts FA Senior County Cup between Teversal and Nottingham Forest U23’s has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch with the game rescheduled for Wednesday 4th March 2020 (7:45pm).
Carlton Town and Gedling Miners Welfare have also seen their last eight game called off with the match originally proposed to be re-scheduled on Wednesday at Basford United FC on the synthetic surface at Greenwich Avenue but Gedling cannot fulfil the fixture this week so that tie will have to be played at a later date.
After hoping for good news at Newark as Midland League promotion chasers Newark Flowserve earlier stated that their pitch was playable to face Eastwood Community tonight an afternoon downpour also ensured that game won’t be going ahead.
Unfortunately the weather has also put a dampener on Newark’s Midland League rivals Selston who for the umpteenth time this season have had another match called off as tonight’s proposed league game verses Heather St Johns has been postponed again due to a waterlogged pitch.
Selston still have 17 league games to play this season following an outrageous number of postponements down largely to the elements.
