After the Magpies youngsters beat Newark to reach the County Cup Semi Final in midweek the club’s first team will be looking to make history on Saturday afternoon as they face Aveley in the FA Trophy Quarter Final just two wins now away from Wembley.
Neal Ardley’s men will be huge favourites going into the game at Meadow Lane against the Isthmian League North Division side (three divisions below Notts), but the Essex based part-timers are currently going well in their Division in fourth position having drew second placed Heybridge Swifts at the weekend.
Notts last action came in the disappointing National League defeat at the Victoria Ground against Hartlepool and the club were left frustrated in midweek after their game at AFC Fylde was called off at the second time of asking with little under a couple of hours until kick off.
County have been scheduled to play the second re-arranged league match at Fylde on Tuesday night despite the clubs concerns that it has been shoved into the league programme too soon with the league committee stating ‘logistical and congestion problems’ for not having any other dates spare.
The club have issued an official statement of their discontent which suggests If either of Notts or Fylde’s FA Trophy games are called off on Saturday that the tie will not go ahead and will need to be re-scheduled again.
Tickets on Saturday (weather permitting) are £10 for adults with kick off 12:30pm at Meadow Lane the club will be looking for a big crowd to cheer them on as the side look to reach a Wembley Stadium final for the first time since 1995 when they won the Anglo-Italian Cup at the old twin towers.
