It’s been all go at the Bay over the last few days as Nottingham Rugby have announced two more signings this morning with the season-long capture of centre’s Charlie Thacker and Matt Riddington.
23-year-old Thacker joins after most recently leaving Leicester Tigers in 2019 following five years at the club where he was a fringe player midst previous spells on loan at the Green and Whites. Brother of Bristol forward Harry, Charlie is also the son of Troy who like his son’s also played for Leicester in years past.
Riddington, a 22-year-old product of the successful Nottingham Trent University programme did make the bench a few times last season for Neil Fowkes side and has been like Thacker given a one year deal with the Championship side.
The club are continuing to look for new players after going part-time prior to the premature end of last season and are hoping to find new recruitments that can fit step two national level rugby union in with their usual work commitments.
A big ask perhaps but the club are certainly finding a way forward and with the backbone already in place it looks like Nottingham are well prepared to challenge in the new campaign whilst many others may instead struggle following RFU cutbacks.
