Smith Joins Millers
Striker Jordan Smith has joined Carlton Town from Kimberley Miners Welfare over a weekend when for many non-league clubs in Nottinghamshire, training was back, and with it were plenty of movers too.
Millers Manager Tommy Brookbanks is more than pleased with his capture of Smith who scored 17 league goals for the East Midland Counties outfit last season despite Kimberley lying 16th in the division before the campaigns premature close.
Smith stated upon signing “I’m really happy to be joining Carlton Town this season and looking forward to proving myself at this level of football. Hopefully I can add something different to the team”
Another side busy over the weekend were Northern Counties East League Premier Division outfit AFC Mansfield who captured Ben Algar from Maltby Main. 30-year-old Algar joins Matt Sykes, Lynton Karkach and Liam Marsden as a new signing for the Bulls this summer bringing experience to the side following spells at Chesterfield, Matlock, Sheffield, Frickley and Shaw Lane in previous years.
Also in the NCEL, Ollerton Town have re-signed striker Gav King who has had spells at Maltby, AFC Mansfield and Sherwood Colliery with Reds Manager Dave Winter stating “He is a perfect role model for the younger lads, he’s clean living and conducts himself well. He does everything well for a lad his age. We are over the moon to have him.”
Meanwhile in the Midland Football League Selston are hoping to improve on their fortunes from last season with the captures of Jordan Black, Jake Payling and Tom Laister, all from Teversal. Selston have also signed eighteen year old forward Matt Leaske from Wirskworth Ivanhoe and defender Perry Marriott-Lane from Pinxton FC.
