Notts County striker Kristian Dennis has left the club for Scottish Premiership side St Mirren after he rejected a new deal to stay at Meadow Lane following his contract running out this summer.
Dennis scored 17 goals for the Magpies over two seasons after joining the club from Chesterfield in 2018 with five of those goals coming in his last seven matches as Notts reached Wembley only to be beaten in the Play Off final by Harrogate.
The 30-year-old Manchester born striker started out with Macclesfield Town making his league debut in 2008 before a season long spell at Mossley and three years at Stockport County scoring 31 goals in 90 games for the Hatters before a successful spell on loan back at Macclesfield lead to a permanent move to Chesterfield in 2016.
At the Spirites Dennis scored 31 goals in 90 games before joining Notts County and after struggling in his debut season where Notts were relegated, Dennis won over the County fans last season with some fine displays and important goals that led the team into a showpiece match with a crack at returning to the football league.
Promotion however wasn’t to be and Dennis made the decision to leave the club for pastures new stating “I would like to thank everyone for their support over the last two seasons. The fans have stuck by the club brilliantly and I really hope they will have some success to celebrate in the coming season.”
Manager Neal Ardley sad to see Dennis leave said “We’re very sorry to see Kristian go. He benefited from a strong pre-season last summer, making massive improvements and becoming an integral part of our squad.”
“He scored some fantastic goals for us and we were hoping to keep him here, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be.”
“We wish him all the very best with his new club.”
In better news for Notts the club have at least re-captured the services of Dion Kelly-Evans for the new season ahead.
