Radcliffe March On
After a first defeat last weekend It was back to usual standards and another good weekend for Radcliffe-on-Trent cricket club as they earned maximum points in the Nottinghamshire Premier League South Division to stretch their lead at the top of the table to four points over second placed Cavaliers & Carrington who had both their matches cancelled due to a player testing positive for covid-19.
On Saturday Radcliffe beat Clifton Village chasing a revised target of 164 from 30 overs after the home side hit 194/7 from 40 before rain hit in.
Liam Andrews scored 68 for Clifton but Radcliffe won by 2 wickets and with five balls to spare as they chased down their target inside the distance.
On Bank Holiday Monday it was an even better performance by the league leaders who scored 301/6 against bottom of the table Plumtree. Caleb Mierkalns scored 111 with young Notts loanee Sol Budinger hitting 87 to provide a first wicket partnership of 192. Plumtree in reply were bowled out for 66 with Ben Savage taking 4 wickets for 21 runs.
Plumtree actually won their game on Saturday against Wollaton in chasing down a revised target of 137 from 24 overs after the home side won the toss and elected to bat in reaching 188/7 in 40 overs. Paul McMahon hitting 55 en-route before Plumtree responded with a 60 from Saad Ashraf as they won by three wickets with just one ball to spare.
Following last over disappointment Wollaton did get back to winning ways however on Monday after bowling out Attenborough for 153 (Paldip Sidhu top scoring with 53) thanks to 4 for 34 by James Cox and 3/18 by Zain Latif and 3/30 from Paul McMahon, Wollaton responded to win by two wickets with nine balls to spare.
In the North Division Cuckney are top. After Saturday’s match with Mansfield Hosiery Mills was abandoned due to rain they beat Hucknall by 118 runs on Monday with James Hawley (70) and Tom Ullyott (75) helping them to 242/8 from 40 overs whilst in return they bowled out their opponents for 124 thanks largely to a five for by man of the match James Hawley (5/11).
In second is Kimberley Institute who’s match against Hucknall on Saturday was also abandoned. Kimberley were beaten by Papplewick & Linby on Monday after the away side hit 162/8 from 40 overs. In response Kimberley were bowled out for 147 with Pete Bhabra amongst the wickets taking 3/23.
Saturday saw Caythorpe beat Papplewick & Linby after scoring 186/6 from 40 overs with Callum McKenzie hitting 74. The away side couldn’t chase down a revised target of 154 from 35 overs in response hitting 147/5 with Ben Trevor-Jones ending 52 not out.
Caythorpe made it two from two over the weekend after beating bottom of the table Mansfield Hosiery Mills who are yet to win a match. Mansfield scoring 124/7 with Caythorpe chasing their target down with just under three overs left and four wickets in hand. A 52 from Hishaam Khan the pick of the bunch with the bat.
