Stags Face Tough Test At Orient
Mansfield Town face a trip to London tomorrow as they take on Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road. Ross Embleton’s side have started the season magnificently well having beaten Oldham Athletic in their opening league match at Boundary Park either side of wins in the Carabao Cup and Football League Trophy.
With four victories from four games the Stags will be up against it against a form side and will be without full back Joe Riley who recovers from an ACL injury whilst striker Danny Rose will take a late fitness test.
Graham Coughlan’s men will be boosted by former Forest and Notts County winger Stephen McLaughlin however as the Irishman who recently signed from Southend United is available for selection.
The Stags got off to a solid but unspectacular start in their opening match of the League 2 season against Tranmere Rovers at Field Mill in a match that ended nil-nil but featured plenty of chances and Coughlan and Coaching Staff will be hoping their team can turn possession and opportunity into goals this time around.
The Manager said following the draw with Tranmere “We should’ve scored on Saturday and we didn’t. But I do believe with that type of performance, you’ll win more games than not.”
“Leyton Orient will have a different system to what Tranmere had so you’ll possibly see us adapting to that.”
“They’ll ask us questions and we’ll have to bring our A-game. But I want us to concentrate on ourselves for 80 per cent and 20 per cent on the opposition. I have every confidence and faith in the squad that we’ve assembled.”
The match is a 3pm Kick Off and will be played behind closed doors with the option available to watch the match on iFollow on the Mansfield Town website.
Last season the two sides met most recently prior to lockdown in February in an entertaining match in London that ended 2-1 to the O’s.
