Notts County 0-1 Harrogate Town (FA Trophy Semi-Final) 22.09.20
The Magpies prolonged Wembley return is over after last night losing to Harrogate Town in the delayed semi-final of the FA Vase with the Yorkshiremen winning by a single goal to face Concord Rangers in the final.
On a sombre day where Notts learned the lesson that the National League season will now not start on October 1st due to Government proposals to pause the return of supporters to stadiums, things got bad to worse as Notts not only crashed out of the cup, but star player Cal Roberts also left the field needing gas and air with a nasty injury that could see him out for a long time.
Will Smith’s header on the stroke of half time was enough to separate the two sides and earn the League Two team victory as Notts pushed in the second half but couldn’t find a leveller.
After the match Neal Ardley stated of his annoyance at the tackle that lead to Roberts injury on a night that did not go well for the Magpies.
Now the club’s season is in turmoil not knowing when the National League campaign will kick off, with the star player out for some time and the Magpies lengthy FA Trophy run finally over it was quite a bad day at the office and one that Neal Ardley will be glad to see the back of.
