Selston 1-4 Newark (Midland Football League) 14.10.20
Newark have moved up to third in the Midland Football League after a 4-1 derby win over bottom of the table Selston at the Parish Hall Ground last night.
The Tangerines took the lead when midfielder Danny Meadows volleyed home on 12 minutes to give the away side a half time advantage and shortly after the break Bradley Wells finished things off neatly at the back post.
With fifteen minutes remaining Ben Hutchinson made it three as substitute Romello Nangle pulled back to the veteran striker before the home side pulled a goal back through Jake Payling who headed over the goalkeeper White.
In the final minute though Newark increased their dominance and shown their class as Craig Westcarr chipped to the back post where Elliott King was left unmarked to head home from close range.
A dominant performance from Newark who host AFC Wulfrunians at Lowfields at the weekend. For Selston, they’ll take positives out of being competitive against one of the division’s best teams for long periods, they’ll travel to Coventry Sphinx next Tuesday still looking for their first points of the season.
