Curtis Scores Hat-Trick At Southwell
It’s been a busy November for Southwell Racecourse who today held its fifth event of the month already and it was a happy day for jockey Ben Curtis who rode three winners on the all weather track with back-to-back wins for Grimsthorpe Castle and Luscifer before crowning off with a win on Kaafy.
The first race of the day went by the way of the bookies as 15/8 favourite, Ustaath, ridden home by Tyler Heard came first for Trainer Roger Fell before Loulin won the 12:50 as Harrison Shaw saw off the chasing pack.
Another favourite, Sammy Sunshine, was first in race three as Richard Kingscote came home for Ralph Beckett to win in front of Where Are You At and Quiet Jungle in a class five over 1m13y whilst Lucky Robin made it a winning day for Brian Ellison as jockey Ben Robinson rode to victory in the 13:50.
Lexi The One became the third Irish winner of the day in beating another Irish horse La Reveur to victory for Richard Fahey and Barry McHugh before Ben Curtis won his first race on a Mick Appleby favourite in Grimsthorpe Castle.
Curtis followed that win with another as he saw home victory with Luscifer for Tony Carroll before winning the last race of the day on Irish horse Kaafy in the 15:50 Betway Handicap.
