Grimsthorpe Castle Wins Again

It was another victory at Southwell for Trainer Michael Appleby and his horse Grimsthorpe Castle owned by Matthew Taylor, who for the second week in succession came home first in the 1m3f 23y C6 race, the first race of the day, ridden this time by jockey Andrew Mullen after Ben Curtis rode him home to win last Tuesday.

Trainer Appleby started the day how he finished, with a win as Loch Ness Monster came home ahead of 5/4 favourite Sophar Sogood.

Wins too for Iain Jardine and Jockey Jason Hart as Phantasmal won the 12:20 class six at 9/2 whilst the John Gosden trained Byzantia came home first as 5/4 favourite in the 12:50 Bombardier Novice Stakes.

War Defender raced home for Tim Easterby as Ella McCain rode the horse to a second successive win at Southwell after winning earlier in November and Young John, a 2/1 favourite went one better than last time out after finishing second a week ago on Sunday. Rossa Ryan edging her horse to beat Liamba with a furlong to go.

Finally Palazzo, ridden by Irish Jockey Graham Lee, won for Bryan Smart and Dyagilev came home for Joey Haynes and his winning trainer Simon Pearce.
