FA Cup Draw Disappoints
It was an underwhelming FA Cup third round draw for both Nottingham Forest and Mansfield Town aired live on BBC One this evening as both were paired up against same league opposition.
Forest were drawn against fellow Championship foes Cardiff City at home whilst Mansfield were the last ball out of the hat and drew Cheltenham Town in an away tie at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium in Gloucestershire.
Both sides will at least see winnable games and the chance for bigger and better to come but both will also be aware of potential banana skins with neither opponent picked the easiest of draws for our local sides.
Cardiff are currently fourteenth in the second tier of English football, five points above the Reds in 21st and with a good record at the City Ground whilst Cheltenham are going strong in League Two, sitting second in the table. Michael Duff’s side beating Crewe Alexandra in the last round to reach this stage whilst as we know Mansfield beat Sunderland and Dagenham to get thus far.
The ties will be played in the new year over the weekend of 8th to 11th January and there is hoping that some fans will be allowed in subject to the governments tier restrictions and we will let you know nearer the time of actual dates and if any access to attend either game becomes available.
