Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club have signed Zimbabwean wicket-keeping batsman Dane Schadendorf on a two year deal.
The 18-year-old featured for the clubs second XI over the summer and also played for Caythorpe in the Notts Premier League, averaging over 21 with the bat in his seven games including a 51 against Mansfield Hosiery Mills.
Schadendorf has played ten times for the Zimbabwe under 19s team but as a UK passport holder has committed to playing cricket in England signing his first professional contract at Trent Bridge that will see him stay at the club until at least 2022.
The right hander said “As soon as I walked into Trent Bridge for the first time, I could imagine how special it must be to play with a full house in here.
“That first day in training with the lads was just an unreal experience.
“My game is probably more suited to white-ball cricket at the moment, but I’m working really hard on my red-ball game, and I think I’m getting better.
“My aims for the next year or so are just to get off to a good start here, score as many runs as I can, and try to stake my claim for a place in the first team.”
