Heffernan Makes Saints Switch

Nottingham Prop Oisin Heffernan has joined Gallagher Premiership outfit Northampton Saints in a move that sees the 25-year-old step up a level to the top tier of English rugby-union.

The player made 44 appearances for the green and whites in a two year spell but like many at the club has been frustrated with the lack of action in 2020/21 due to covid and moves to Franklin’s Gardens to help a Northampton side currently fifth in the league after nine matches played.

With the rugby Championship set to begin a shortened campaign next month it comes almost on the eve of a new season but Heffernan will now get a chance to show what he can do at a top club with Nottingham Head Coach stating “We are obviously disappointed to lose a player of Oisin’s quality but we wish him well for his future. He’s worked hard for his opportunity over the two and a half years at the club.”

“It shows that Nottingham Rugby is still a great place for developing players and that the RFU Championship is the number one breeding ground for future Premiership players, coaches, support staff and officials.”

Nottingham will get their long awaited league campaign off to a start on 6th March when they face Ealing Trailfinders at Lady Bay.
